Building a Site of Your Very Own

Nvu
Web page editor similar to Composer but with more features including tabs.  Now you can open and edit several documents at once.  Also has a Site Manager that allows you to upload your pages to the Internet.  Nvu is stand-alone software, so there's only one small download.   Another personal favorite.

Netscape Composer
Enables you to create a web page in a WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") environment just like a word processor.  It automatically generates the HTML code.  Must download Navigator to get Composer.

Mozilla Composer
Quite similar to Netscape Composer.  Another web page editor.  Must download Mozilla Suite to get the editor.

Xoology Coda
Free HTML editor.  Great features including color codes for text.

PageTutor
Free "plain English" beginner HTML tutorials.  More advanced info requires subscription.

W3 Schools
A collection of free HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, XHTML, WAP, ASP, SQL tutorials with lots of working examples and source code.

Flaming Text
Best and easiest to use free graphic resources on the Net.  Headings, buttons, clip art, and more.

Free-Webhosts
Largest directory on the Internet of free web hosting providers.

Core FTP Lite
Fast and free FTP client allows you to easily upload pages, images, and files to the Internet.
